Mariska Goliath – An Anna Foundation Daughter – Our Goliath In Sport

Anna Foundation are winners at the Youth Day Trail Run presented by Sportsman’s Warehouse and Dirtopia

This past long weekend on Friday 16 June 2017, the Anna Foundation youth celebrated the Youth Day public holiday by participating in the Youth Day Trail run at Delvera presented by Sportsman’s Warehouse and Dirtopia. Two young ladies from the Anna Foundation’s after-school training programme at Simonsig achieved excellent results. On the 5Km run Tenichia Malgas came 2nd and Christelle Swart came 3rd in the 6-10 Overall Girls Category! Thanks to Dirtopia and Sportsman’s Warehouse for sponsoring and running the event....

Cape Town Beach Clean Up and TV Time

 On 18 February 2017 the Grade 5 – 7’s from Simonsig Wine Estate after-school joined over 1000 Capetonians for 5FM’s “BIG Cape Town Clean Up”! The five areas being targeted for this mass litter collection included Sea Point Promenade/Mouille Point (where we were stationed), Lion’s Head, the Liesbeek River, Milnerton Lagoon and Joe Slovo. Stellenbosch Harvest Parade

We joined some of our Stellenbosch farms as they took part in the annual Stellenbosch Harvest Festival Parade. This annual festival serves as a celebration and blessing of the wine harvest that lies ahead. Our Neethlingshof’s children rode on their farm’s decorated trailer while children from Dornier and Waterford marched with banners alongside our highly visible minibus. Almarie Canya

New Office Staff

Almarie Coetzee is our new Head of Education. She was previously at Boland College where she was an ECD assessor and facilitator (plenty of experience in training others!). She also has a background in remedial therapy and has specialised in teaching special needs children. Canya Cruywagen is Project Manager for our Boland projectsand oversees our sports programme. Two New After-School Projects

We are pleased to welcome the Maranatha Trust (Malmesbury) and Eensaamheid farm (Agter-Paarl) to the Anna Foundation family! The Maranatha Trust is a fellow-beneficiary of the Cape Wine Auction (CWA) with 49 children and 5 facilitators at the after-school. They are further supported by another CWA beneficiary, The Lunchbox Fund. We offered the children of Eensaamheid holiday programmes as far back as 2009! 1%Club Pub Quiz Fundraiser

After 5 years of trying, team “Revenge of the Nerds” finally clinched 1st place! We had a very successful evening at the 1%Club Pub Quiz Fundraiser on 30 November and a whopping R14 500 was raised for the Anna Foundation!!! Gun Run 2016!

Well before sunrise on 16 October, 200 children and facilitators in Montagu, Ashton, Robertson and Worcester, clambered onto buses for the 2 hour (-plus!) trip to Cape Town, ready to run.
