Women Empowerment Programme: Building Confidence and Skills

For over 20 years, we’ve helped children and empowered women in rural communities. Your donation supports us to continue our important work.

Building Skills to Equip Women in Rural Farmland Areas

Education and training are a rare offering for rural women in South Africa. The Anna Foundation aims to support, train, and employ these women so that they can become facilitators for the after-school 3 Rs Programme.

The majority of these women do not have an educational background. Through monthly training, women are given the materials, methods, and knowledge needed for the upcoming month. This includes training in the educational curriculum, sports, and drama or life skills lessons.

Our goal is to see these women gain the confidence to teach, help students, and learn project management. The Women Empowerment Programme builds self-assurance, broadens skills, and opens rural women's eyes to their valuable contributions in the community.

MENTORSHIP & SUPPORT

Women Mentorship and Support

Consistent Care and Support

The Anna Foundation project managers regularly check in with the women who become facilitators. We rely on them for feedback on the programme’s impact. Through collaboration, these women have become the real heroes of the Anna Foundation and are celebrated for their impact.

EMPOWERMENT

Filling Lives with Purpose and Passion

The people in the Women’s Empowerment Programme develop life skills that support and strengthen their community. With renewed purpose and passion, they gain access to resources and opportunities that help them believe they are capable of a bigger calling. Some of these women go on to start their own businesses or work towards other goals that will improve their chances of being hired, like getting a driver’s licence.

See the Impact Through Their Eyes

A platform like Anna Foundation is so important because the child gets stimulation. The child is cared for. That genuine caring is so necessary because our children live in a loveless environment most of the time. It is important to me that one should have these types of programs in every community.

Leana Claasen
Former Anna Foundation Facilitator and Project Manager

I love seeing light come into the children’s eyes. When I started here, they were so closed off – they don’t trust easily. And now I have children come to me and spill their guts and their tears. It has been amazing to see that transformation.

Soraya Ebrahim
Facilitator on Buffet Olives Farm in Paarl.

I’m learning things that I didn’t know or that I’ve already forgotten. And for me to learn to apply it to a child’s life is great. The child comes out of school and may not understand that concept, but now I have learnt how to make a difference and make it easier for that child. It is heavenly for me because now I have a happy child.

Mareline de Wet
Facilitator, Learning Tree Aftercare

I always say it has to be a safe place for them and it’s a safe place here. And I know it’s a safe place because they’re here 24/7. They want to be here (at the after-school programme).
