On a recent visit to Asia for the Wines of South Africa Road Show, Kanonkop’s importers in Hong Kong – Northeast Wines & Spirits Ltd – raised about R50,000 for the Anna Foundation during a silent auction. As you might know, Kanonkop is one of the farms who partner with the Anna Foundation and has an after-school on its premises.
“Six lots went on auction and raised nearly R50 000 for an organisation that has a significant impact on the education and life experience of children at many Cape wine farms,” said Betsy Haynes, MD of North East Wines and agent for Kanonkop wines in Asia.
“We hosted a wine dinner at The Park Lane Hotel, with Chef Chantal Dartnall of Mosiac (Pretoria) as the guest chef and ran a small silent auction of SA wines of which we decided to donate the proceeds to the Anna Foundation,” she added.
“I’m thrilled to receive this valuable injection into our organisation. Over a five-year period, our literacy results on rural farms in the Western Cape show between a 20%-40% improvement,” said Anna Brom, founder and director.
