The Power of Books in the Home
Research has shown that having books in the home can significantly impact a child’s early learning. It maximizes opportunities for language development and supports emergent literacy skills. Studies also indicate that book ownership is linked to more frequent and engaged caregiver interactions; parents and guardians are more likely to read and spend quality time with their children when books are readily available. This kind of interaction is vital in a child’s early development, helping to cultivate a lifelong love of learning.
Supporting Our Focus on Reading
This year, our focus has been on improving reading skills across all our afterschools. With these books in hand, the children can now practice their reading at home, which solidifies what they’ve learned in the classroom.
