I had been doing 6 months literacy work at two schools in the Stellenbosch area and perchance, came across a group of children who were familiar with one of my books. That’s how we discovered that there were children who were part of the Anna Foundation. The teacher gave us such great feedback about the kids that were involved with the Anna Foundation after-school and I could see that these children were getting more than just basic schooling. These children stood out as a result of the 3 R’s Programme: they are very involved in the sessions, show better concentration and comprehension skills, answer questions more comprehensively and are all in all more mature, confident and presentable. They also influence the other children in a positive way.
