The June/July school holidays were packed with excitement and memorable experiences for our learners! We believe that learning happens best when it’s engaging and enjoyable, so we filled the holidays with creative outings, workshops and activities that enriched their time outside of school.

Outings that Sparked Joy

The holidays gave us the chance to take our learners on some wonderful outings, allowing them to explore new environments and take part in unique learning opportunities:

  • Pasta-Making Workshop: Our learners at the Buffet Olives project had the delightful experience of learning to make pasta from scratch! From kneading the dough to shaping the pasta, the children got hands-on with this culinary skill and discovered the art (and fun) of creating food.
  • Visits to the Norval Foundation: Our Neethlingshof and Kanonkop projects enjoyed outings to the Norval Foundation, where they explored art exhibitions and engaged in discussions about creativity and expression. These visits allowed our learners to experience art in a new way, sparking curiosity and broadening their perspectives.
  • A Day at the Playhouse with Winnie the Pooh: The magic of theatre came alive for our Dennegeur learners as they watched Winnie the Pooh at the Playhouse. Seeing the beloved characters and their adventures on stage was a highlight for many, bringing laughter and joy while introducing them to the art of performance.

Creativity and Fun with Arts and Crafts

Back at the afterschool projects, our learners got creative with a variety of arts and crafts activities. The children were encouraged to let their imaginations run free as they painted and crafted. Not only did these activities provide an outlet for self-expression, but they also helped build fine motor skills, focus and confidence.

Dancing and Movement Across Projects

One of our project managers travelled to different projects, bringing the joy of dance to our learners. From energetic dance routines to learning new moves! The children enjoyed the rhythm and freedom that dancing brought.

A Holiday to Remember

The June/July school holidays were a fantastic time for our learners to explore, learn and grow in ways that go beyond the classroom. Through these outings, arts and crafts, and dance sessions, we created a holiday experience that nurtured creativity, teamwork and joyful learning.

We’re grateful to everyone who made these activities possible and to our partners for their support in creating such memorable moments. Here’s to more enriching experiences that continue to inspire our learners!
