MESSAGE FROM ANNAIt is safe to say the Cape winter has arrived. Many of our projects and families in the Langeberg region were impacted by the floods recently experienced. We are grateful for the support we could offer these children during this time, and for the many helping hands that donated blankets, warm clothing and food.We have had an incredibly full 6 months. We welcomed 2 new projects on board, offering 60 new children access to our programmes and support....
On Friday 13 January, the Anna Foundation welcomed a team of American University students to kick off the year in style with a soccer skills clinic. As part of their sports tour to South Africa, the Case Western University Women’s Soccer team chose to visit the Anna Foundation’s after-school project in Robertson for a day filled with fun, games and skills development. After taking a tour of the after-school’s facilities and learning about the educational, sports and life skills support offered...
It is a well-known fact that raising and nurturing a child is a job for the entire community. As an organisation whose mission it is to support the holistic development of rural children, this principal is fittingly applicable to our work, and so we are extremely thankful to our community for their support! From winter clothing drives, to book donations, to pillows, puzzles and parenting support – our partners continue to be incredibly generous. Winter in the winelands is a trying...
Community work is a team effort! In the first semester of 2022, the Anna Foundation have had the incredible pleasure of welcoming a handful of students from the University of Stellenbosch on board as helpful members of our volunteer team. These willing students have happily chosen to invest their time, skills and resources into the lives of our learners in a variety of different ways. Estelle de Villiers is a post-graduate psychology student who volunteers every Tuesday afternoon by hosting an...
Mariska Goliath is a member of our scholarship programme who we met at one of our farm projects in 2010. Although Mariska was only in pre-primary at the time, we recognized a resilient twinkle in her eye despite her difficult family circumstances and lack of opportunities. Since then, we have been able to enrol and support her through 11 years of schooling at Stellenbosch Primary and Stellenbosch High School. We have been so proud to watch her grow into a...

The wonderful world of Wonderdal is a magical and educational experience, with the power to open a child’s mind to the worlds of science, nature and learning in a new way. Not all children have the resources to access this wonderful world of...
We have been truly blown away by the thoughtfulness from both companies and individuals who have donated much-needed stationery and other resources to help us kick off the new school year. Each year this is always a big cost that needs to be covered. The staff at Honeybee App personally handed out stationery packs which they put together, to our learners at Simonsig Wines. With 150 stationery packs in total, we’ve been able to equip a number of after-schools with...
The children from Simonsig Wine Estate were extremely excited at the prospect of this trail running event taking place on their farm. Their first run for the year! On the morning of 28 January, children, parents, facilitators and support runners lined up, ready to tackle “the hill” which everyone had been talking about the day before. Hill? What hill?! The children ran like lightening and really did us proud and we even had a few prize winners! Special thanks to Japie Swanepoel...
